Update: I used to think cashback apps were a scam, then I hit $212 in one quarter
For years I figured those cashback apps were just collecting my data and never paying out. My buddy kept telling me to try one, and I kept saying 'no thanks, not giving them my card info.' Then last March my wife signed up for one out of boredom and made $40 in a month just scanning receipts from groceries we already bought. I still wasn't convinced because that seemed like a fluke. So I ran my own test for a full quarter with one app, same receipts we always have, and it came out to $212. That's basically free money for doing nothing different. The trick is stacking it with store coupons, not using it as a replacement for finding actual deals. Has anyone else had a big payout from one of these things, or did I just get lucky with a good quarter?
