Just figured out the self checkout app at my Kroger marks stuff down at 8pm
I shop at the Kroger on Broad Street in Columbus every Sunday around 7:30 and I kept noticing the meat and bakery stuff got stickers slapped on right as I was leaving. So two weeks ago I started waiting until 8pm on the dot and scanning everything through the app instead of the register, and the app already has the markdown price in it even when the sticker isn't on the package yet. First trip I got a $14 rotisserie chicken pack for $5.99 and a pack of rolls for 89 cents, walked out paying $11 total for what was $30 in the cart. The trick only works if you clip the digital coupons too because some of the markdowns stack with them and some don't, and I got burned once on a steak that was still full price in the app until 8:15. Not sure if the timing is the same at other stores or if mine is just slow, but the app thing feels like the real trick more than the stickers. Has anyone tested this at a different Kroger chain or is it just my location that updates early?
