I finally subscribed to that classic show streaming add-on, 12 bucks a month

Wait, did the price go up? I've had that add-on for about two years now and I'm still paying $9.99 a month, so either they raised it on new subscribers or you got hit with some kind of bundle thing. Anyway, you're right about the shows holding up. I think the reason is that old procedurals had to fill 22 episodes a season, so they couldn't lean on one big twist or fancy effects, they just had to write decent little mysteries with actors who could carry a scene. Now everything is six episodes and shot like a movie, which sounds good on paper but a lot of it drags worse than a 90s courtroom episode ever did. And honestly the slower pace is the point, it gives the characters room to just exist instead of racing to the next cliffhanger every ten minutes.
