My buddy Mark from work made me question everything about 9/11 truthers.

We were grabbing lunch at that deli on 3rd street last Wednesday and he just flat out said 'you know the official story has more holes than my old fishing net.' He started talking about how WTC 7 fell at near freefall speed and it wasn't even hit by a plane, just some office fires. It hit different because he's a structural engineer with 15 years of experience, not some random internet loon. Has anyone else had a conversation with an actual expert that completely shifted your view on a conspiracy?

I finally tested that 5G tower near my house with an RF meter

Picked up a cheap meter off Amazon for $40 and measured the radiation levels coming from that tower down the street. The readings were way higher than I expected, even inside my house. Has anyone else actually measured these things themselves?

I was digging through some old forums from like 2012 and people were discussing stuff like Operation Northwoods or the Tulsa Race Massacre being covered up. Now it feels like every thread is about flat earth or lizard people running the Pentagon. Did the internet just get too flooded with trolls or did people actually stop caring about the more grounded stuff?

Overheard a guy at a coffee shop in Denver say 9/11 was an inside job and I actually wanted to hear him out

I was grabbing a latte last Tuesday morning before work and this older guy in a Carhartt jacket was talking to his friend about how the towers fell too clean and symmetrical for it to just be planes. He pulled out his phone and showed thermal imaging stuff that looked like the buildings had controlled demolition charges going off from the bottom. I always thought that conspiracy was just crazy people yelling on street corners, but he had this calm way of explaining it with building codes and steel melting points. Made me wonder why the media never lets anyone on TV who questions the official story without making them look like a total nut. Now I am down a rabbit hole watching structural engineering videos on YouTube at 2am trying to figure out if he actually had a point. Has anyone else had a moment where a stranger just casually changed how you see a major event like that?

Appreciation post for the guy who told me my furnace filter was upside down

My AC unit has been running nonstop for 3 days and the house still felt stuffy. I checked the filter and it looked clean so I figured it was something major... maybe a refrigerant leak or a bad capacitor. Finally called a buddy who does HVAC and he laughed at me. He just flipped the filter around and the airflow doubled. Felt like a total idiot for wasting 3 days and nearly calling a repair guy.

Just compared my neighbor's alarm setup to mine after his got triggered 3 times last month

He had a cheap wireless system from Amazon and I use a hardwired Honeywell with monitored sensors, and after his false alarms got him fined $150 by the city I'm even more convinced wired is the way to go, has anyone else dealt with a false alarm that turned into a headache?

Back in 2019 on my F-150, I'd slap duct tape on a leaking radiator hose and call it good for months. Now I actually carry spare hoses and proper clamps after that hose burst on I-35 near Austin last summer. Cost me $450 in tow and repair fees versus a $12 fix. I had a Ring and a Eufy side by side for a week. Ring's infrared gave me blurry white blobs. Eufy picked up a raccoon's eyes from 30 feet away clear as day. Same mounting spot, same time of night. Anyone else done a direct comparison like that?

I was looking at the old photos of the Denver airport murals from 1995 and the ones they have now

The old ones had way more weird symbols and that creepy gargoyle statue, but after the 9/11 stuff, they painted over a bunch of it and took the statue down. It makes you wonder if they were told to make it less spooky because of all the conspiracy talk. Did the airport just get tired of the rumors, or was there more to it?

I was cleaning up my browser bookmarks and saw a folder for old debate threads. I added up the timestamps from my replies in just one forum, and it came to over 100 hours total. That's more than two full work weeks. It hit me that I've spent all that time trying to prove a basic fact to people who just wanted to argue. Why do we even do this?
