Can we talk about how I laughed at Y2K prep in 1998 and now I stock water jugs
Back in 1998 my uncle in Bakersfield filled his garage with canned food and a hand crank radio for Y2K, and I told him he was wasting $600. The power stayed on fine, so I got to be smug about it for a while. But after the big ice storm knocked our grid out for 5 days in 2021, I sat in the dark eating cold beans and thought about his garage. Now I keep 4 cases of water and a radio, which feels silly until it doesn't. Where do you all draw the line between smart prep and full tin foil hat stuff?
