inChat with a new stylist about toner made me question my whole routine
Watched my old boss do this for years at her salon. She had this whole wall of toners and would literally mix a drop of this and a drop of that based on how the client's hair was pulling that day. I always thought she was just being extra, honestly, because the rest of us were grabbing the same bottle every single time. Then one day a regular came in with hair that had gone way more yellow than usual from a new well water situation, and my usual toner did basically nothing. My boss walked over, looked at it for two seconds, mixed something custom, and it came out perfect. That was the day I stopped thinking of toner as a one size fits all thing. The girl you talked to might be young, but she's not wrong about reading the hair fresh each time.

inPaid $40 for an AI plotting tool and it gave me nothing I couldn't do in a notebook
Forty bucks for a year is basically lunch money, so the real loss here is three afternoons of your life. A notebook never fails you because it doesn’t pretend to know your story better than you do. If anything, this just confirms that the nudge you need is usually just sitting down and writing the dumb first draft.

Stop chasing coupon apps, learn your store's markdown day instead
Feeling you on this one, man. I used to obsess over those apps too until I realized the meat manager at my local HEB just slaps those yellow tags on everything Tuesday night. Now I show up Wednesday morning and grab the family packs of chicken for next to nothing. It took me like two weeks of just asking politely when they clear stuff out, and once they know you're not a reseller, they'll even point you to the good racks.
