You act like you discovered some great mystery when really you just needed to rotate your pan halfway through baking. I have used ovens my whole life without a thermometer and my cookies turn out fine. Maybe the issue isnt the oven, maybe its your recipe or your technique. Anyway, if you really care that much, just buy an oven thermometer and move on with your life. Its a five dollar fix, not a life changing revelation.
