Just realized my old keypad beeps were coming from a loose wire, not a dead battery
Last Tuesday I was at a house in Fort Wayne swapping out an old keypad that kept chirping every 30 seconds. I tested the battery first, then the transformer, and both checked out fine. On a hunch I wiggled the zone wire at terminal 4 and the chirping stopped cold. The wire had worked loose from years of the homeowner bumping the panel door. I crimped a new ferrule on it and it held solid through my whole test. So here is my question for you all: how often do you actually trace the wire before you blame the battery?
