inRemember when we used to soak bricks for a whole day before laying?
Seriously? I've just been using a spray bottle for years... works fine and you don't need a whole bucket taking up space. Seems like making extra work to me.

inEveryone says to burp your jars daily, but I tried leaving mine alone for a full 5 days
Wait, you actually burp yours every time? I just let it sit lol.

inI was using way too much tension on my foil placements
Yeah, it's wild how that works. I see it all the time with people and their phones, myself included. You pick it up and just start scrolling through the same three apps without even deciding to. It's like our habits build these little mental tracks, and we just roll along them until something, or someone, bumps us off. Your mentor pointing it out probably made you actually see the routine for a second.

inVisited an old furniture auction in Portland and saw something that took me back
Ever notice how we treat a lot of stuff like museum items now instead of things to be used? You're right, @torres.drew, that's exactly what happens with furniture. We get so worried about keeping the original finish perfect that the piece just sits there. Giving it a tough finish is like giving it permission to be part of the family again. It stops being a fragile relic and becomes a table you can actually put a drink on.

inMy signed copy of The Amazing Spider-Man #300 got a coffee ring at a con in Chicago
Honestly used to be that guy with my old vinyl records. Would freak out over the tiniest scratch. Then I saw my dad's beat up copy of Abbey Road, ring wear on the cover and a name written on the label in pen. That's the copy we actually listened to, you know? Now my favorite books have dog-eared pages and my guitar has a chip in the finish. Stuff just feels more real that way.
