Just counted the pages in my first full rebind and the number shocked me

I always thought rebinding was mostly about the cover work. Seeing that 552 page count really shows how the sewing is the real hidden marathon, lol. It makes me appreciate my own bookshelf way more now.

PSA: That cheap thermal paste from a brand called 'CoolFlow' is a total trap.

It reminds me of when my old car would overheat. I'd blame the coolant, but half the time it was just a loose hose clamp or a worn belt. People love to point at the simple, cheap part first.

A client told me my balayage looked like a bad paint job

Honestly, that client sounds rude. A lot of people just don't get the technical skill it takes, even with a faster method. Sometimes you have to work efficiently to keep prices fair for everyone.

Vent: My metal detector found something in a protected area and I almost made a huge mistake

Man, that was a close call. Good on you for stopping and reporting it. For checking boundaries, you gotta do more than just look for a sign. Those markers can be hidden or missing. Always check the official park map online first, they often have shaded areas for protected sites. I also call the ranger station directly before I go to ask about specific zones. Never trust just your eyes on the ground.

I always thought a full bed of mortar was the only way to lay a paver patio

Spot bedding works well with large, rigid pavers because they bridge the gap. The key is using a stiff mortar mix that won't slump and making sure those support spots are perfectly level. I've seen failures happen when guys get sloppy and leave too big of a hollow underneath, creating a drumming effect.
