Dropped by the local library's basement sale and spotted a working Apple IIe from 1983
They had it hooked up to a tiny monochrome monitor running some old math game, and the thing booted up in under 10 seconds. Has anyone else seen one of these still chugging along in the wild, or do I just hang out in the wrong places?

Maybe it's just me but I don't really get the hype. I mean yeah it's cool that it still boots up but what are you actually gonna do with it? Type out a report on a green screen and play Oregon Trail for ten minutes until you remember you can do that on your phone way faster. Kinda seems like people just like the novelty of old tech breaking down less often because it didn't have to do much in the first place. My laptop from 2019 has keyboard issues sure but at least I can stream Netflix and edit photos on it without attaching a dot matrix printer from the Stone Age.

Found one of those at a flea market last summer. The guy was selling it for twenty bucks with a dot matrix printer still attached. Booted right up, played some Oregon Trail on it before he chased me off. Kinda wild those things still work when my laptop from 2019 is already having keyboard issues.
