Did you check if the socket pin itself is still making contact or if the plastic is cracked around it? Those old sockets get brittle and a bent pin can sometimes stretch the contact so reseating alone won't fix it. I'd try a thin needle to gently bend the pin back and test with a multimeter first, then reflow only if the joint looks dull or cracked. Reflowing all of them is safer long term but those traces lift easy if you get too hot, so keep the iron around 650 and don't linger.

Waiting for the trade is honestly the boring move and people act like it's the smart one. Those single issues are the only way indie books survive at all, and if everyone sits around waiting for the collection, that book you grabbed never gets a second printing and the whole series dies. Two copies at your shop is exactly the problem, low orders mean the shop won't reorder, and the writer sees bad numbers and moves on to something else. Plus you lose all the stuff trades don't give you, the letters pages, the backup art, the actual feeling of being there when it drops. If you're not sure about a book, buying the issue is how you find out, and a few bucks is nothing. Worst case you're out the price of a coffee, but you helped keep a comic alive either way.
