inMy brother told me to use a hair dryer on a dent in my car door
Completely agree with you about those quick fix videos. They create this false hope that complex problems have magic solutions. Watched a neighbor try the boiling water trick on a car door last summer and it just made the paint crackle. Sometimes the right tool for the job is just the right tool, not a kitchen hack.

inThis homeowner in Des Moines asked me to put a gate in his fence but leave the latch off
Tell me about it. My to-do list is basically just a pile of stuff for future me to handle.

inMy 12-year-old nephew asked me why I don't have a password on my tablet at home.
Kids have this way of pointing out the simple gaps in our adult logic. It's like they see the world without all the habits we build up. My friend's daughter once asked why we leave the spare key under the flower pot if it's a secret from bad guys. Another time, a neighbor's kid saw me type my PIN at the store and just said it out loud, which was a huge wake-up call. They notice the basic stuff because they're still learning the rules, and sometimes the rules we follow don't even make sense.

inMy attempt at a cobalt blue marble went completely purple
Ugh that's such a bummer, but is the color shift really that bad? Purple cobalt can be really pretty. I get the client wanted blue, but maybe you could have shown them the result first before scrapping everything. Sometimes a happy accident leads to a better design.

inThought I could save time on a panel swap by reusing the old 22-gauge wire, and now I'm chasing a ground fault for the third day.
Totally get what you're saying, but sometimes reusing wire is fine if you know its history and it's not damaged. Coleman.jade has a point about critical systems though, you really can't cut corners there. It's all about judging the risk for each specific job. Being cheap upfront can definitely cost way more in headaches later.
