Why does nobody talk about how positive reinforcement backfired on my dog?

I used to be all in on treats and praise for every little thing my terrier did right. But after 6 months of that, she started ignoring me unless I had a chicken cube in my hand. Last week at the park, she wouldn't come back until I waved a bag of treats, and some trainer just laughed. Now I'm mixing in firm boundaries and ignoring bad behavior way more, and she actually listens better. Has anyone else had their dog turn into a treat negotiator?

I miss when a pound of ground beef was under two bucks

Was digging through some old receipts from 2019 the other day and saw I paid $1.89 for a pound of 80/20 at the local Kroger here in Columbus. Now it's like $4.50 on sale if I'm lucky. Three years and that's more than double. What do you guys even use now to stretch meals? I've been doing half lentils half beef in tacos and it works okay but not the same.

Changed my mind about using a DA sander for heavy paint removal after talking to an old-timer at a shop in St. Louis

I always thought you had to use a grinder with a 36 grit disc to strip clear coat fast. This guy in his 60s saw me at a parts store last month and told me I was making more work for myself. He showed me his setup with a DA sander and some 80 grit paper, said it takes longer but gives you a flatter surface to start with. I tried it on a 2010 Camaro hood that had peeling clear, and he was right the finish after primer was way smoother. No deep gouges to block out saved me like 2 hours of sanding. Has anyone else switched to DA for stripping instead of grinding?

Found a loose SATA cable that fixed my random blue screens

Last Tuesday my PC kept crashing during video calls, so I opened the case and spotted a SATA cable barely hanging onto the drive. I pushed it back in and the blue screens stopped completely after three days of testing. Has anyone else had a simple cable fix solve a weird problem like that?

Hit 500 facials in my third year and realized I still hate the same product line I started with

I finally crossed 500 facials last Thursday. Thought I would feel like some kind of expert by now. But I still dread using Dermalogica. It works fine for most people, I just hate the smell and the way it sits on my hands. Everyone in my program swore by it. I feel like an outlier. Does anyone else secretly hate a brand that's basically the industry standard?

The hidden clearance trap in budget case mods

I keep seeing people on here cram giant radiators into cases that barely have room for air. Look, I get it, you want a 360mm rad and you found a $50 case that sort of fits. But I spent two weeks last summer trying to mod a cheap Cooler Master box and ended up drilling holes right through a motherboard tray support. The problem is that budget cases use thinner steel, so adding custom mounts or cutting out drive cages kills the structural rigidity. I learned this the hard way when my GPU sagged after I removed the middle standoff. Now I always tap on panels and check the metal gauge before I buy a case for modding. What do you check for before you start cutting up a cheap case?

Spent $60 on a custom tempered glass side panel and cracked it before I even installed it

I ordered a perfect sized panel from a local glass shop in Phoenix and dropped it on my concrete garage floor the second I pulled it out of the box. Has anyone else had a clumsy moment that just burned cash for no reason?

My 5 year old GPU finally died and I found out why

So my GTX 1060 just went black screen on me after 5 years of solid use. I was ready to blame age or bad luck until I actually looked at the thermal paste. Dude it was completely dried out and crusty like old cheese. I pulled up a temp log from last year and it had been hitting 85c for months without me noticing. Has anyone else had a card last this long only to die from something as dumb as bad paste instead of actual hardware failure?

I spent 3 hours on a simple geometric pattern in Illustrator last night and was shocked to find the final export ate 12 minutes just processing. Where did you find the most surprising bottleneck in your digital art workflow?

PSA: A fresh coat of clear matte polyurethane transformed my kitchen cabinets for $12

I was dead set on ripping out my old oak cabinets but tried sealing them with a $12 can of clear matte polyurethane from Lowe's instead. The difference was night and day the gloss was gone and the wood looked modern. Has anyone else gotten good results from just sealing instead of painting?
