Update: finally beat the "list index out of range" bug after 2 days, here's the dumb 4 line fix I found

Man, that feeling when it turns out the fix was something tiny you just kept walking past. The thing that gets me is how those 4 lines usually show up at like 2am after you've rewritten half the function for no reason. Next time I hit that error I'm checking the loop bounds first before I touch anything else.
