inMy frozen fries went from soggy to perfect after I started doing this one thing
Honestly I feel so dumb for never trying that. I spent like two years convinced my air fryer was broken because my fries were always sad and floppy. I was about to buy a whole new one. Turns out I just needed to give them a quick bath first. It's the kitchen version of finding out you've been opening bananas from the wrong end your whole life.

inA client in her 80s told me she missed the smell of setting lotion from the old beauty school in St. Paul.
My brother went full buzz cut last year. That ozone smell is real, like burnt air. Honestly, it's a pretty clean look though.

inRemember when you had to hand-trowel a whole driveway? I did one in Spokane back in '99 that took me and my partner two full days. Now with a power trowel, I can knock out the same job in about six hours. The finish isn't quite the same, but you can't beat the time saved. What's one old-school method you still use sometimes, even with the new tools?
Totally agree about the orange peel. That machine texture also holds onto dirt and water way more over time. A proper hand finish sheds water almost like glass and stays cleaner for years. It's one of those small details that separates a decent job from a truly good one.

inI used to think the old school hand signals were good enough for any job.
Totally get what you mean, @verab28. Tried yelling hand signals across a field once in a storm and my friend just got a face full of rain and confusion lol. The wind just eats your words and your arm waves look like you're swatting bees. Makes you realize how fast you go from feeling in control to looking like a soaked mime. Honestly, radios feel like cheating after that mess.

inPro tip: stop using a comb to hold the hair for a skin fade
Oh man, that explains so much. My last barber did the comb push thing. Always wondered why my fade looked soft after a day.
