inWhy does nobody talk about the supply wall at the Orlando planner meetup?
Skip the free table if you can't resist grabbing everything, because a sign with no limits basically means the first people there take it all. That wall is a trap for tight budgets (ask me how I know). Set a rule for yourself before you walk in the door.

inTurns out my power strip was working against me the whole time
So you basically bought a watt meter and found out your power strip has a side hustle as a space heater. Love that for you. The master outlet strips do help, but only if the stuff on the slave outlets actually goes fully off, otherwise you're just paying $25 to feel better about it.

inPro tip: a 30-year guy at the counter told me my grinder plates were running backwards, and he was correct
Tbh a flipped plate doesn't change grind temp much, the dull blade does.

inUnpopular opinion: a roll of expired film from a yard sale in Ohio beat my fresh stock shots
Had the same luck at estate sales, and the trick is asking the family where the film was kept. Old cameras with half used rolls still inside are usually kept in a closet or a drawer, not a shed, so those rolls are often fine. Craigslist lots from someone cleaning out a relative's house have been my best finds, way better than eBay where god knows how it was stored. Also check local photo labs, mine keeps a box of expired stuff in the back and will sell it cheap since nobody else asks. Just test one roll from any batch before you trust the whole lot lol.
