My uncle tried that quick-set patch on his driveway last fall. It looked fine until the first freeze, then it just crumbled like a cookie. You see it with those peel-and-stick tile backsplashes too, they promise a weekend project but the corners lift in a month. It's all surface, no structure. Why are we surprised when the shortcut fails?

Funny how that works... my uncle ran a small print shop and said the same thing. He'd turn down low-ball jobs for wedding invites, then a few days later a local business would walk in needing 500 fancy brochures. Always seemed like a gamble in the moment, but he said cheap work just attracts more cheap work. Sticking to your number really does weed out the wrong kind of client.
