My uncle still uses 'Password123' for everything and got mad when I showed him his email was pwned

He looked me dead in the eye at Thanksgiving dinner and said 'well nobody's hacked me yet' while his inbox was flooded with spam from some breach last year. Has anyone else here given up trying to get family to change their passwords?

Lost $150 on a meal kit subscription I never actually used

I signed up for HelloFresh after a coworker kept raving about it. Three weeks in, I had four boxes sitting in the fridge with half the ingredients going bad because I just kept ordering takeout instead. Anyone else fall for the convenience hype or is it just me?

Just realized PPG has a color matching guarantee that actually pays out if they get it wrong

I was flipping through their warranty info online last night and saw they'll reimburse you for the paint and labor if their camera match is off by more than a tolerance. Never knew that was a thing. Had a 2023 Toyota pearl yesterday that took me three sprayouts to get close. Anyone ever actually file a claim on that?

Always thought organic produce was way healthier til I saw the pesticide data

I was at the library last Tuesday flipping through some old Consumer Reports and landed on their 2021 pesticide analysis. Turns out they tested both organic and conventional produce, and the difference in actual pesticide residue was way smaller than I assumed. For things like avocados and onions, both types had basically zero detectable pesticides. I get why people choose organic for thin-skinned stuff like strawberries, but I feel like the whole "organic is always safer" thing gets oversold. Anyone else look at the numbers and change their shopping habits?

Everybody says start with a desk job but I think they're dead wrong

I tried going the office route back in 2019 after my uncle kept telling me I needed a real career. Lasted about 8 months before I totally burned out sitting in a cubicle doing data entry for some insurance company in Atlanta. Hated every second of it so I quit and started installing floors on my own for cash. Three years later I'm making more money and actually don't dread waking up. Anybody else ditch the corporate track for something hands on?

Picked up an old Rolleiflex at a flea market in Austin and noticed something odd inside

Found this beat up Rolleiflex TLR at a flea market on South Congress last weekend. When I opened the back, the pressure plate was held in with what looked like a strip of old leather belt. Someone had clearly repaired it on the cheap decades ago and it still worked fine. Anyone ever run into a hack job that actually held up better than you expected?

Broke past 1000 commits on my first real project and it caught me off guard

I started this little weather app back in February just to learn Python basics. Yesterday I checked and saw 1,047 commits total, which felt insane for something that barely has 3 screens. Did hitting that number make anyone else stop and think about how far you've come?

Thought I could shave 30 minutes off a grooming job, now I'm eating my words

I've been grooming dogs for 8 years and always swore I could knock out a full poodle trim in 90 minutes flat. Then last Tuesday a Bernedoodle came in with mats so tight I had to hand-scissor around the armpits for 45 minutes alone. Ended up taking me 3 hours and 10 minutes total. Has anyone else had a routine task suddenly balloon into a whole afternoon?

Shoutout to the guy who told me to check the grounding strap before chasing electrical gremlins

Got a 2018 F-150 in the shop last Tuesday that had this intermittent issue with the taillights flickering. Spent like 2 hours swapping relays, checking fuses, tracing wires. Finally called a buddy who works at a dealer and he just says "did you check the ground strap at the frame?". Sure enough, it was corroded half to hell. Cleaned it up, problem gone. Felt like an idiot but learned something. Has anyone else had a simple ground fix save them a ton of time?

Just realized espresso isn't supposed to taste like burnt tires

I spent two years thinking I just didn't get why people love espresso. Then I visited a shop in Portland called Heart and the barista pulled me a shot that tasted like berries and chocolate. He explained that most chain places roast way too dark to cover up bad beans. Now I actually get why people spend $2,000 on a home machine. Has anyone else had that moment where a good shot changed your whole outlook?
