Bought a bulk bag of red lentils for $12 and half of them had little rocks mixed in

Wait, nobody is talking about the real mystery here. How do you break a tooth on a lentil? Lentils are like little sponges. They're basically nothing. I've eaten bags of them without issue. Either your tooth was already a ticking time bomb or that was one genetically modified lentil from a science experiment. Maybe you found the world's first armored lentil. Or maybe you're secretly a superhero and your weakness is legumes. Either way, I'm choosing to believe that lentil had it out for you personally.

Just compared Mailchimp to Brevo for email campaigns and one was a total disaster

@riverp37 nailed it with "open rates dropped off a cliff." Same thing happened to me last month - I sent a test newsletter to 300 people and Mailchimp flagged half of them as spam for no reason. Brevo's been smooth sailing since, even with my tiny list of like 200 subscribers.

TIL that cheap espresso machine I bought for $150 is basically a glorified steam toy.

And that's the thing @sam530 pointed out too. I grabbed a mid-range tablet last year because I was too cheap for an iPad, and now I'm already looking at upgrades because the screen is garbage and it lags on simple stuff. It's like buying the cheap boots that fall apart in six months, costing you more in the long run than just getting the good ones once. Why do we keep falling for that trap? Like, is it just the upfront price that tricks us every time?

Brought a Mamiya RB67 back from the dead with a $6 spring

Kinda reminds me of the time I fixed an old Pentax 67 with a guitar pick. The advance lever was slipping and it turned out the internal clutch plate needed a tiny shim. Used a piece of a blue Tortex pick, sanded it down with a nail file, and it worked like a charm (still does, actually). Camera people look at me weird when I pull that trick out at meetups. Hardware store springs are a classic though, that's next level.

I thought my buddy was crazy for telling me to air fry tofu straight from the package

Alton Brown did a whole segment on why you always pat dry first @angela_coleman.
