Why does nobody talk about putting a car away wet vs dry for long storage?

I always parked my 240 in the garage with a cover after a wash, but a buddy at a Cars and Coffee in Reno said trapped moisture under the cover over 3 months gave him rust blisters, so now I let it air dry a full day before covering. Do you guys cover a wet car or wait it out?
