I left the coop door open during a storm in Tulsa and spent 2 hours in the dark chasing 6 hens
I got home late from work on a Tuesday and forgot to latch the coop door before the rain hit. Around 9pm I heard thunder and looked out the window and saw the door swinging wide open with no hens inside. I grabbed a flashlight and spent about 2 hours crawling under bushes and behind the shed in the mud trying to round them up one by one. Two of them had somehow gotten into my neighbor's fenced yard, so I had to knock on his door at 11pm and explain the situation. I finally got all 6 back in around midnight, but one of them laid an egg right on my porch step like she was mad at me. Does anyone use one of those automatic door closers or do you just set a phone alarm like I should have done?
