That $35 'quick fix' drain snake from the hardware store cost me $400 in water damage
Last month my kitchen sink was draining slow so I grabbed one of those cheap hand crank snakes at the Ace Hardware on Vine Street. I jammed it down there and felt it catch, so I kept cranking like an idiot and punched a hole right through the trap arm. Water poured into the cabinet and warped the base board so bad I had to pay a plumber $400 to cut out the old pipe and replace the bottom shelf. The plumber took one look and said 'yeah, those things are for pros who know when to stop.' If your drain is fighting back at all, just call someone instead of cranking harder, has anyone else wrecked a cabinet trying to save a service call?
