Oh man, this is gonna sound bad but I have the exact opposite problem. I'm so stubborn that when a stranger gives me advice I dig my heels in and refuse to try it for like six months out of pure spite. Some guy at a con told me to skip the first arc of a show and I actually argued with him about it for ten minutes. Joke's on me though because I finally caved and he was totally right, the first arc was trash. Now I just stand around at cons hoping random people will fix my watch list for me. It's a terrible system but here we are.

The "one giant anchor point" thing is exactly where it went wrong. When you bundle every cable to a single spot, any little vibration travels through the whole zip tie and shakes the connector at your monitor. Heat kicking on means the ducts rattle the desk, desk shakes the anchor, anchor yanks every cable at once. Try giving each cable its own loop of slack and only tie them loosely in a few spots instead of cranking them all down to one point. That way the movement gets spread out and nothing tugs on the ports.
