inHeard a guy at the Corning Museum talk about annealing thick pieces
That 48 hour figure is a real eye opener. I used to just double the thickness in hours and call it good, but that's clearly not enough.

inI swear my reusable bags multiply when I'm not looking...
The closet vortex is real and it's always hungry for more stuff.

inI bought a cheap band saw blade sharpener for the shop and it cost me a full day's work.
Oh perfect, the classic "spend money to lose money" tool strategy. My buddy bought one of those and the alignment guide was so bad it sharpened a perfect curve into his blade. Looked more like a bread knife than anything for wood.

inMy door hinge fix just made everything noisier
Honestly it's not about the noise, it's about the feeling. A smooth quiet door just makes a house feel solid and cared for. That squeak every time you come home late or check on the kids becomes a tiny daily annoyance. Fixing it takes two minutes with some oil and a rag, and then you get that satisfaction every single time you use it. Why live with a small bother when the fix is so easy?

inI used to think a 10-inch breaking knife was the only tool for primal breakdowns
Man, @the_ryan's uncle had that feel for it.
