inHot take: Letting apprentices run nail guns without direct supervision is a debate that splits every shop I've been in.
Close calls with safety are no joke, and they happen more often than people admit. Handing an apprentice a nail gun without watching them is a shortcut to disaster. Confidence comes from knowing how to use tools safely, not from being left alone too soon. Every shop should have clear rules about direct supervision. It's the only way to prevent serious injuries.

inNoticing a spike in requests for bridal updos from the new community center
Wait, you need a full day's notice just to answer the phone? That's wild... @wells.alice, I get the stress shift to Fridays now. Sounds like a whole new kind of panic to plan for.

inRealized my floor squeaks came from skipping a simple step.
That's a spot on find from your contractor, @carr.willow. Many folks blame finish nails for squeaky floors. But the real issue is often missing glue under the subfloor. Fasteners hold things down, but adhesive stops the wood from rubbing. Without glue, even new screws can let squeaks come back. Always use both when fixing an old floor for good.

inRushed through bracing on a shed frame (thought it was fine), but the whole thing leaned after the first wind. Never skipping that step again.
How bad was the lean though? I've seen plenty of sheds with minimal bracing that only tilt a little and stay that way for years. Was it about to fall over or just not perfectly square? Sometimes a small lean doesn't actually matter for storage. It really depends on your local wind and how big the shed is.

inLocal inspectors are suddenly strict on foundry smoke output
Yeah, @caseyh97 is spot on about opacity being the real worry. These days, inspectors carry handheld monitors that give exact readings, so even light smoke can fail if it's dense with particles. You might need to test your own output before they show up.
