inFound out my 'finished' basement was never insulated at all
Did you check if the previous owner had any other complaints filed against them? I read something in the Edmonton Real Estate Board newsletter a couple months back about how many houses around here have unpermitted work in the basements. It's a big problem because if you ever try to sell, the city can make you rip it all out and start over. That 20k extra you paid sounds like a total scam, you should probably talk to a lawyer about small claims court. At the very least, get a home inspector to look at the rest of the house so you know what else might be hidden.

inPSA: tried a new underlayment on a big glue-down job in Springfield
Watch the install though, cork is finicky with moisture if not done right.

inTrying to sort my game shelf by weight rating took me a whole weekend
Noticing how much time people spend getting small details right is kind of comforting actually.

inRealized I was wasting $40 a week on pre-made rice packs
The rice cooker was the single best $20 I ever spent on kitchen stuff. I got one at Walmart three years ago and it still works like day one. And hey @jamesmason maybe it is just rice, but that "just rice" adds up fast when you're feeding two people and noticing the grocery total at the end of the month. For anyone else reading this just rinse the dry rice a couple times before you cook it and use a 2 to 1 water ratio and it comes out perfect every time. I also started buying the big 20 pound bags of jasmine rice at the Asian grocery for $12 and it lasts me like three months.

inI wasted $75 on a 'refurbished' Commodore 64 power supply
I switched to a modern PSU from ebay and it's been rock solid since.
