Hit 20,000 pounds processed yesterday and it snuck up on me

I don't keep close track. Just show up and cut. Boss told me at the end of the day I crossed 20k for the year so far. That's a lot of cows and pigs. Makes me think about 15 years ago when I was lucky to do 200 pounds in a week at my first shop. Anyone else ever get surprised by a number like that?

Spent 45 minutes chasing a water leak in my basement before realizing I installed the toilet flange upside down

Was putting in a new toilet in my basement bathroom last Saturday. Hooked everything up, flushed, and water started seeping out from under the base. Pulled the toilet off three times, checked the wax ring, checked the supply line. Finally looked at the flange itself and noticed the raised lip was facing down into the pipe instead of up. Had to cut the whole thing out and put a new one in. Twenty bucks and a trip to Home Depot later it was fine. Has anyone else done something this dumb on a simple job?

Discovered a cheat code for layer matching in AutoCAD by accident

I was working on a huge office building plan in Houston last Tuesday and my hatch patterns were all out of whack. Tried purging and auditing like usual but nothing fixed the weird layer overlap on floor 4. Out of frustration I hit "select similar" on one line and then "._layiso" to isolate it and boom the whole drawing cleaned up in 30 seconds. My boss walked by and asked how I fixed it so fast and I just shrugged. Has anyone else stumbled on a random command combo that saved hours of fiddling?

Can we talk about those old Yashica TLRs everyone loves?

I visited an antique shop in Portland last weekend and saw three Yashica Mat 124Gs sitting on a shelf, all priced over $200 each. Everyone raves about these cameras but I honestly think they're overhyped for what you get. The viewing lens on two of them was hazy and the focus helicoids felt rough on all three. I'd rather spend that money on a well serviced Minolta or a clean old Pentax spotmatic instead. Am I missing something special about these that justifies the price?

Question about password managers and reuse

I keep seeing coworkers write down their work passwords on sticky notes stuck to their monitors. Its crazy because we have a password manager that everyone can use for free. Last month I counted 12 sticky notes on one desk alone. How do you convince people to actually use the tools they already have?

Air fryer finally nailed my frozen samosas problem

Stopped by my local Indian grocery last weekend and noticed they had a new brand of frozen samosas, so I grabbed a bag. After 3 tries at 380 degrees for exactly 11 minutes with a spray of oil, they came out crispy on the outside and not doughy inside - anyone else have a go-to temp for frozen appetizers?

That $40 Bosch router bit I bought on clearance was the best money I ever spent on a single tool

Grabbed it at a hardware closeout last spring and it cuts dados so clean I don't even have to sand the edges anymore, anyone else find a killer deal on a bit that changed their game?

Maple is overrated for kitchen cabinets

I read a study from the USDA Forest Service that said hickory has better impact resistance and moisture stability than maple in kitchen use. Has anyone else switched to hickory after looking at the actual data?

Just made my first batch of kale chips in the air fryer and they actually turned out good

I stopped by my local farmers market in Austin last weekend and grabbed a big bag of lacinato kale on a whim. Tossed it with a little olive oil and salt, then air fried at 350 for about 5 minutes until crispy. Honestly I was expecting a sad, burnt mess but they came out perfect with just a light crunch. Has anyone else tried making leafy greens in their air fryer without them flying around?

Found out my cutterhead is 15% less efficient when the suction screen is only 1/4 clogged

Was digging through the maintenance logs last week and noticed my production numbers were slipping even though everything looked fine on the surface. Pulled the screen after a hunch and it had maybe a quarter of the holes blocked with gravel and roots. Figured that was nothing. Turns out the pump was working way harder for less output. Found a little study online from some university that tested different blockage percentages. 15% is no joke when you're running 12 hour days. Anyone else ever run numbers on stuff like this or just go by feel?
