Shoutout to the Klein NCVT-3 for saving me from a live wire mix-up

Old houses always have a story to tell, don't they?

Can we talk about the 'bad week' at the shop last month

You're right about pump maintenance being ignored, but it's the hoses that get me. We had a pump fail because a coolant line was so brittle it collapsed internally. The pump looked fine on the checklist, but it was basically starving. Now we squeeze every hose during the weekly walk.

Showerthought: I read in a gardening book from the library that a single tomato plant can need up to 3 gallons of water on a hot day, which seems impossible for my tiny balcony setup.

Tell me about it, I almost gave up on tomatoes last summer for the exact same reason. My balcony looked like I was trying to grow rice in a kiddie pool. I switched to using much bigger pots this year, the kind with built-in water reservoirs at the bottom. It was a total game changer because the soil soaks up water from below as it dries out. I only have to fill the reservoir every few days even when it's really hot.

My foreman in Galveston wants us to switch to a new polymer flocculant, but the old-timers swear by the aluminum sulfate.

Used to side with the old timers on alum sulfate. Saw that clogging issue myself with the new poly stuff, but that 15% time savings is real money. We just clean the bars a little more often now.

Pro tip: I thought digital art commissions were a total waste of time until a friend in Portland pushed me to try

My friend's best work came from ignoring deadlines completely.
