inI finally swapped out a 20 year old panel for a new one and the difference is wild
Ever wonder what that lag actually costs? I used to think like you until my old panel missed a real break-in by a hair. Now I see that half second as the gap between an alert and a call to the cops.

inMy plotter decided to eat a roll of 36-inch vellum right before a deadline
My printer's feed rollers have been slipping for months and it still works okay. I get what @theawest is saying about a DIY fix, but is a small paper jam really worth taking the whole thing apart. It feels like messing with it could cause a bigger problem than just tapping the side to get it going. Sometimes these machines just have a bad day and it passes. Have you actually had success fixing rollers yourself?

inTIL a trick for cleaning old fuel nozzles that saved me a whole afternoon
My uncle had this old Evinrude outboard motor from the 70s that was completely gummed up. He soaked the whole carburetor assembly in a coffee can full of Pine-Sol for a weekend. When he pulled it out, the varnish had just turned into this weird jelly that rinsed right off. The gaskets were even still soft. He got that motor running on the first pull after that.

inI thought those cheap plastic guards were a waste of money, but I was wrong
Honestly, I was the same way about plastic guards for the longest time. Tbh I thought they felt flimsy and cheap compared to metal. But I tried a buddy's set on a skin fade last week and the blend from the 0.5 to the 1 was way smoother, no weird lines. It totally changed how I do my detail work now.
