I spent last weekend processing the same set of 60 Orion Nebula shots two different ways. One with DSS stacking and one with manual tracking alignment in Photoshop. The stacked version had way less noise but the colors looked kinda flat. The tracked one popped more but had some weird artifacts around the core. I showed them to three people at my local astronomy club in Tucson and got split opinions. Two said stacked was cleaner and more "correct." One said tracked looked more like what you actually see through the eyepiece. What do you all lean toward when you process? Do you prioritize data purity or visual impact?

Finally found a way to stop that annoying door close delay on old Otis units

Been fighting this one elevator at a condo building in Denver for weeks where the doors would take a solid 4-5 seconds before closing after someone got in. Tried cleaning the rollers, checking the door limit switches, all the usual stuff. Yesterday I realized the door close button spring was getting stuck partially compressed from years of grime. Spent 10 minutes cleaning it out with contact cleaner and a tiny brush latley and now it closes almost instantly. Has anyone else had a button assembly cause timing issues like that?

Decided between caulk and foam for sealing a drafty window, picked foam

I had this old window in my basement letting in a cold draft all winter. I couldn't decide if I should use a tube of caulk or get a can of expanding foam. I went with foam because the gap was pretty big, maybe half an inch in spots. It worked great, filled everything tight, but I made a mess with the overflow and had to trim it with a knife. Anyone else have trouble cleaning up foam residue off the glass?
