Rant: my barred rock got her head stuck in the coop door latch

Found her flapping around at 6:30am with her beak wedged in the little slide bolt gap, so I greased the bolt and zip tied a strip of rubber over the gap, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had to chicken-proof their latch or if it's just my dumb birds.
