Painting my kitchen cabinets was the worst idea I had all year

Last spring I decided to save money and paint my oak cabinets white. Watched a bunch of YouTube videos and thought I had it figured out. I skipped sanding because the videos said liquid deglosser works just as good. Well after 3 coats of paint and a ton of brush marks, the paint started peeling off within 2 months. Now I have to strip everything and start over which is going to cost me around $200 in supplies. The worst part is my wife keeps saying "I told you to hire someone" every time she opens a cabinet. Has anyone else tried painting cabinets and had it fail because you rushed the prep work?

Honestly @piper_green I used to skip prep too but this post changed my mind.

Wait till you try painting your car, then see if cabinets are still the worst.

I tried it once. Ended up looking like a toddler's art project.
