inMy niece asked why I still use a paper journal when my phone has an app for that... and I didn't have a good answer at first.
Because it just feels more REAL, you know?

inHot take: I used to think asking 'dumb' questions was a waste of time
Your cousin is onto something there. We get so used to searching for answers that we forget to check if we're even asking the right thing first. It happens everywhere, not just with homework or work stuff.

inI finally got a stubborn extraction right after a bad start
Oh man, that's the worst feeling when you think a spot is ready and it just locks up. Your reset move is spot on (no pun intended) with the cool compress and backing off. I've found that sometimes the skin just needs a minute to chill out, literally, before you can even think of going near it again. If it's still a no-go after that, I'll often just leave it completely alone for that session and make a note for next time. It's so much better to walk away with minimal redness than to force it and leave a mark for a week.

inMy cheap sleeping pad popped on a cold night in the Smokies, and I finally got the message.
My $20 pad lasted five winters.

inThought I could fix a wobbly ceiling fan in an hour, ended up with a hole in my drywall and a 3 day project.
How did you even manage to put a hole in the drywall from a fan wobble? That sounds like a way bigger problem than just balancing the blades. I have fixed a few wobbly fans and it never got close to that level of damage. Maybe the mounting box was already loose in the ceiling.
