inSpent 4 hours chasing a ground loop on a 1980s Marantz receiver that ended up being a single bad solder joint
Cold joint taught you about bad solder joints, not circuit topology, @uma_reed26.

inDebate: do you replace the whole shutter or just fix the curtain on a 1970s SLR?
eric_ramirez67 said it's a big job and not always worth it, and I totally agree. I tried swapping the whole shutter on my old Minolta and ended up with a timing issue that made every shot blurry. It was such a headache I just gave up and bought another body from a thrift store for like 30 bucks. The curtain fix is way simpler if you can find the right cloth.

inHorror movie characters who never just leave the house
Man, that's a good point about the flashlight thing. But here's what always gets me: when they find the fuse box and it's all sparking and weird, why does nobody just say "nope" and wait til morning? Like is there some rule they gotta fix it right then?

inGuy at the retro game shop told me I was ruining my save files
Man that's funny because it's one of those things you don't think about until someone points it out. I started turning off my computer through the start menu instead of just flipping the power strip after a friend said I was corrupting files the same way. It's wild how one little comment can make you rethink a habit you've been doing for years. Makes me wonder what other small things I'm messing up without realizing it.
