Old crane hand named Ray told me to stop choking up on the boom controls

Started gripping them bad boys like I was holding a baby bird and my boom sway dialed way the hell back. One old timer in Seattle told me the same thing, said I was fighting the hydraulics instead of letting the machine do its job. Felt weird at first not having a death grip on those levers but man it made a huge difference in my pick accuracy. Now I barely hold the controls, just kinda guide em with my fingertips. That old school wisdom really does stick with you once you try it out.

PSA: That $150 microcurrent device I bought on Instagram was a total dud

Got suckered by one of those cheap LED masks from Facebook once. Plastic felt like a toy and the light barely made my face look different after weeks of use. The company ghosted me when I asked for a refund. Learned my lesson about buying beauty tools from random social media ads.

A guy at the prop house told me the secret to fake ice cubes is glycerin and water, not resin.

Hated dealing with sticky glycerin too so I switched to using a thin layer of vegetable glycerin mixed with distilled water in a spray bottle. Just spritz a little on the glass instead of dunking or painting it on. It still slows down the evaporation on ice props but isn't so thick that it ruins the surface. A quick wipe with rubbing alcohol at the end of the shoot clears it right off without any residue. For props that aren't meant to look pristine I also tried a cheap hair gel diluted with water and that was way easier to clean up than straight glycerin.

Our old core box finally gave out halfway through a big pour yesterday

Is it really that impressive though? I mean, eight years for a steel frame sounds like bare minimum to me, not some kind of milestone. @the_dylan I know you're impressed but I think we set the bar too low for these things. Any frame that can't handle regular use for at least a decade without falling apart isn't built right in my book. I've got an old aluminum frame from the 90s that's still going strong, so eight years doesn't seem like anything to brag about.

Went to that Habitat for Humanity ReStore on 99 St last weekend

Nah fr though, it's all old people Reno leftovers. Still a steal for $8 though.
