Had to choose between a $12 bus from Berlin to Prague or a $90 train last minute.

Took the bus, which broke down for 3 hours in the middle of nowhere, and I missed my hostel check-in window, so has anyone found a good way to check for bus company reliability before booking?

Man that's a rough situation. Did the bus company at least try to get you another vehicle or offer any kind of refund for the trouble? I usually check the Google Maps reviews for the specific bus stop where the company picks up, because people will rant there if the buses are always late or broken.

Ugh, it's like companies expect us to do their quality control for them now.
