Just overheard a guy at Goodwill say old CRT monitors are 'e-waste junk'

I was digging through a pile of cables at the Goodwill on 12th Street last weekend and this dude walks past the CRT section with his kid and says 'don't bother with that e-waste junk, it's not worth the floor space.' I bit my tongue but man, I wanted to ask him if he's ever played a light gun game on a modern flat screen. The lag alone makes it unplayable. I grabbed a 2002 Dell Trinitron for 8 bucks and it works perfectly. Am I wrong for thinking CRTs still have a place or is this guy just clueless?

Society just loves trashing anything it doesn't understand anymore.

Yeah because God forbid people have different taste, right? Everything gets labeled "bad" or "weird" the second it doesn't fit their tiny box. Guess we should all just stick to the same five approved hobbies and shut up about it.
