Had a lender ghost me mid-close after 2 weeks of paperwork
I was 3 days away from closing on a refi for my duplex in Denver when my loan officer just stopped answering emails and calls. I had already sent them 2 years of tax returns, bank statements, and proof of rental income from 3 tenants. On day 4 I drove to their office and the receptionist said he was out sick. Another 2 days went by before I got a generic email saying they were underwriting delays but no timeline. I had to pull the file and start fresh with a different lender last Monday. Has anyone else had a lender go radio silent like that with no warning?

Man, I read somewhere that some lenders ghost folks when they're overwhelmed with applications.

Funny you say that, @felix_thomas73, but I've had the opposite experience. Every time I've applied for a loan, the lenders were on me like white on rice, calling and emailing constantly. If they ghost you, it's probably because they don't want your business anyway, not because they're overwhelmed. Maybe those folks just had bad credit or something going on behind the scenes.
