Just realized the shift in how we share mold designs now

I was cleaning out my old sketchbooks the other day and found drawings from when I first learned to make molds. Back then, it was all paper templates and guessing if something would work. You'd have to visit another blower's studio to see their setup, and even then, it was hush-hush sometimes. These days, I see folks posting full CAD files and video tutorials online for free. Last month, I downloaded a pumpkin mold design that saved me a ton of time on a holiday order. That kind of open sharing feels like a real win for everyone in the trade. It's not just about the tools getting better, but how we help each other out more now. Makes the whole community feel closer, even if we're miles apart.

But honestly, all this free sharing can water down the craft. When everyone has the same designs, it kills the unique touch that made individual artists stand out.

And eventually, every artist ends up copying each other... nothing new happens.

People forget that sharing the basic mold just gives you a starting point. The real art happens in the color choices, the glass you pick, and how you finish the piece. A free CAD file doesn't make two artists' pumpkins look the same on the shelf. It actually lets more people get past the technical block and focus on putting their own style into the work.
