Warning: I still think physical buttons beat touchscreens on most gadgets

Just got my old multimeter fixed instead of buying a new touchscreen one. Most reviews say touch is better, but I can use this with work gloves on during jobs. Three years in, it still gives perfect readings, which feels like a win when everyone's sleek gadgets fail.

Wait, reviews actually say touch is better for a multimeter? How do they expect people to use it on job sites with gloves? I've dropped my button-based one in mud and it's fine, but touchscreens freak out with a little moisture. Keeping your old gear running is smarter than buying fragile new tech.

Disagree on the glove issue, @charlesj46. The good touch models now work through most work gloves just fine. New doesn't always mean fragile, some of this stuff is built seriously tough.

Charlesj46 has a good point about gloves, but some touchscreen multimeters work with special gloves. New models are made to deal with tough jobs better than you might expect. Touching to change settings can be faster after a bit of practice. Buttons are good, but saying all touch screens are bad misses how they can help. For certain tasks, the extra stuff on touch models could cut down on work time.
