Overheard a guy at the parts counter say most people replace the wrong sensor first

Propane trick is solid, I've done the same thing on a few cars and it never fails to find those sneaky little leaks. Just gotta be careful around any hot manifolds or spark plug wires though, had a buddy learn that the hard way with a minor scorch mark. One thing I'd add is if the idle doesn't change much with the propane, try spraying a bit of carb cleaner around the injector seals too, sometimes those plastic spacers get brittle and suck air without a visible crack.

TIL the hard way that garage shelving needs to be bolted to studs, not drywall

Man, drywall anchors are such a trap. My buddy put up a big shelf in his garage for paint cans and a few old tires, thought some toggle bolts would hold. Two days later he walked in and the whole thing was on the floor, paint everywhere. The craziest part is he was so mad he just threw the shelf in the trash and hung a big pegboard instead. Now he hangs everything on that pegboard with hooks, but the pegboard is bolted through into studs too. So I guess he learned the lesson twice.

Client told me my fades looked "unfinished" - fixed it with a simple change

@nancys90 true. Same idea applies to cooking or anything where technique beats the tool.

A guy at the coffee shop told me the best way to ask a question online

Yeah man, I had a similar thing with my dishwasher last year. Threw a code that pointed right at the heating element, but some old timer on here called out that it was actually the control board getting wet, saved me a hundred bucks on the wrong part.

Pro tip: check your vacuum motor brushes before a big job

82 farmhouse in Ohio, carpet was almost black with dirt, and my Kirby quit halfway through the living room. That brush sparking out was a nightmare, had to drive 40 minutes to find a parts store that had the right size. Now I keep two sets of brushes in my bag, one for the main machine and one for the backup. I also learned to check them after every 50 hours of use, just pull the cap and look. Saves a lot of headache later.
