Serious question, on-call weekends splitting our alarm tech crew

Notice how this on-call mess shows up in lots of jobs. Like @theawells said, no schedule means chaos and lost staff. I've seen it in repair shops where guys quit after constant weekend calls. A fixed rotation with fair rest days is the only way to make it work without driving people away.

Appreciation post: That client who sat through a two-hour glaze without a single complaint

The part about a calm vibe making the service smooth is SO spot on. Clients like that are GOLD because they let you focus without any rush. Just having a normal chat turns what could be a boring wait into a actually nice time. It really does change the whole feel of the appointment for everyone.

Warning: I still think physical buttons beat touchscreens on most gadgets

Charlesj46 has a good point about gloves, but some touchscreen multimeters work with special gloves. New models are made to deal with tough jobs better than you might expect. Touching to change settings can be faster after a bit of practice. Buttons are good, but saying all touch screens are bad misses how they can help. For certain tasks, the extra stuff on touch models could cut down on work time.

The long intros before questions here drive me up the wall

Consider how too much background can actually clutter your thinking before you even get to the question. It sometimes pre-loads your brain with assumptions that steer you toward a biased answer. Sometimes you get a clearer, more honest response by just jumping straight to the point.

Debate over a book club pick that backfired badly

Hey Lisa, you said you vet all picks now after last year's nasty surprise... but the original post says that bad vote was last season. Maybe that was the surprise that made you start vetting? It sounds like the vote itself is the problem, not the lack of vetting yet. So the new system is because of that exact mess.
