My roommate said my fridge looked like a serial killer's grocery list

He walked in, saw a jar of pickled beets, a half-eaten lime, and a pack of bacon. Asked what I was planning. Told him I was going for a weird salad. He said it looked like I was trying to hide evidence, not make dinner. So I actually made the salad. It was terrible. The beets turned everything pink. Anyone have a good recipe for random fridge stuff that actually works?
