The transformation I saw in curb-side furniture over 3 years in Portland
I started noticing a shift around 2020 when people began putting out IKEA stuff that was barely scratched. Then by 2022 I was finding solid wood pieces from the 70s with just a broken leg or a stuck drawer. Now in 2025 it's all vintage mid-century dressers and real oak tables that just need some sanding and stain. I think the YouTube restoration videos caused this - everyone watches a few tutorials and realizes they can fix it themselves. But they still toss the stuff they don't want, so now the curb is like a goldmine of solid furniture. Has anyone else seen the quality jump up in your town over the last few years?

My friend scored a solid walnut dresser last week with just one stuck drawer.

Seven times out of ten "one stuck drawer" means a whole set of problems you can't see yet. @the_anna your friend might have bought a headache instead of a deal. I knew a guy who picked up an antique piece with one drawer that wouldn't budge. Took him three weekends and two hundred bucks in tools to fix all the hidden damage. Sometimes paying full price for a clean piece saves you money in the long run.
