Guess tech isn't always smarter than paper?

inMy shift away from mesquite after learning about its environmental impact
I read about a study in Oregon where they tracked bird nests in those single-species oak plots versus mixed stands. The diversity was way lower in the just-oak areas, like only a couple types of birds even used them. If the goal is helping wildlife, it seems pretty weak to not mix in shrubs and younger trees too. I mean, doesn't a real forest have different ages of trees and some dead wood? Are they even trying to copy that, or is it mostly for timber?

inClearing out my basement repair station brought back memories of fixing cameras with just a screwdriver and patience.
My local camera repair guy closed last year, says nothing's made to be fixed anymore.

inHome workouts got dull until I tried exercise combos.
Yeah Sarah's idea about squats and rows sounds solid. I totally used to think combo moves were just a weird fitness fad lol. But mixing stuff up actually keeps my brain from getting bored, and I feel way more into the workout now. It went from being a chore to something I kinda look forward to.

inMy book club's shouting match over a classic novel changed my mind on polite talks
Leo's Austin book club last fall is a perfect example. When they fought over Atticus, it made them see the book in a new way. Those tiny details, like Scout's change, only came up because they were really paying attention. Nice talks are fine, but they don't push you to think hard. The best book clubs make you argue a little. It means everyone is engaged and not just skimming.
