That crusty buildup jesse_barnes37 mentioned is the real enemy. Did you end up having to use a puller tool or just brute force with a wrench and a prayer? Those three hours feel like a special kind of home repair punishment.

Bet the old one was basically welded in place with mineral deposits. That crusty buildup can turn a simple swap into a full on wrestling match.

Ugh, tell me about it. My last one was basically glued in with that white chalky crap. I had to hit it with the torch and still almost stripped the whole fitting.
