PSA: I thought the forum hype around a certain investing strategy was all noise, but I was wrong
For months on the main finance forums, everyone kept pushing the 'three fund portfolio' as the only smart move. I was totally skeptical, thinking it was just groupthink for people who didn't want to do real research. What convinced me was running my own numbers in a simple spreadsheet, comparing my old picks to that basic mix over the last 10 years. The boring portfolio would have made me about $8,000 more with way less stress. Has anyone else had a forum 'common sense' tip completely change their mind after testing it themselves?
