Tbh, it's great to see this old skill getting fresh attention locally.

Seriously, it feels like people are getting back into making real stuff again. I see it with all the local craft beer and home brewed kombucha popping up everywhere. These workshops are just part of that same cool, DIY energy.

My friend Dave got into home brewing last year. He spent weeks on a batch that tasted like wet bread. He called it an acquired taste, but no one acquired it. Now he's onto making pickles, which somehow smell worse. Guess the DIY spirit doesn't always mean edible results.
