Finally bought that $400 thermal camera for tracing door operator heat issues.
It paid for itself in one afternoon by finding a failing motor controller before it cooked itself. Anyone else have a tool that seemed pricey but was totally worth it?

Got a cheap borescope for my phone a while back. Lets me see inside walls and under floors without cutting holes. Found a mouse nest blocking a vent that was killing our AC efficiency.

But what if you just waited for the thing to fail? A new motor controller is way cheaper than that camera. Sometimes the fancy gear just finds problems you could have fixed for less money later.
