Vent: My super glue attempt to fix a cracked toilet tank leaked everywhere

I was skeptical about those epoxy repair kits for ceramics, but I tried cheap super glue on my toilet tank crack last Tuesday instead. The glue held for about 2 hours before water started seeping through, and I ended up with a wet bathroom floor and a new $150 toilet bill. Has anyone else found a decent fix for porcelain cracks that actually lasts?

Try clamping the crack from both sides while the epoxy sets next time. The problem with super glue is it shrinks as it dries and pulls apart. I used a two-part marine epoxy on a ceramic planter once and clamped it with zip ties for 24 hours. That thing still holds water and it's been three years. You need pressure to force the epoxy deep into the crack not just a smear on top.

My buddy swore by two-part epoxy for his cracked sink and I figured he was overthinking it. After mopping up my bathroom at 2 AM I ordered a proper kit online and haven't had a drip since.
